The Rite Aid Information Systems Department deploys a sophisticated and complex technology infrastructure. The infrastructure supports every aspect of the retail environment from the point of sale devices to an advanced pharmacy system. The infrastructure is comprised of various technologies including Internet, client/server, mainframe, and wireless systems. Rite Aid utilizes advanced programming languages and operating systems along with the industry's most powerful databases.

The company has recently initiated projects for eCommerce, Enterprise Portal, and Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) applications.
