Prescriptions are processed in many Rite Aid pharmacies through a robotic prescription-filling machine, RapidScript SM. Over 60 percent of the prescriptions filled in these stores are processed through this technology, which allows the pharmacist more time for patient counseling.
Rite Aid's LIFE CHECKSM pharmacy system features a comprehensive drug database, drug-interaction screening, patient-history compilation, and third-party verification that are unmatched in the industry.
Rite Aid pharmacies are linked by satellite, so patients can receive their medication at a Rite Aid that's across town or across the country.
Every Rite Aid prescription comes with RITE ADVICEŽ, a drug monograph with printed instructions about the specific medication a patient is taking.
Refilled prescriptions can be processed from the Internet to provide convenience to our patients while reducing the number of phone calls to the pharmacy.
Our Voice Response Units are integrated into the pharmacy phone and computer systems to streamline refill prescription processing and decrease the amount of time our pharmacists spend on the actual filling of prescriptions
Through the Rite Aid Vitamin Institute and agreements with Drug Store News, our pharmacists receive free continuing education on topics such as vitamins, asthma, and diabetes.
Community Pharmacy Residency
In order to provide pharmacists the opportunity to expand their skills upon completing graduation from Pharmacy School, Rite Aid has partnered with three schools of pharmacy to provide community pharmacy residency sites. The West Virginia University/Rite Aid Community Pharmacy Residency and the Shenandoah University/Rite Aid Community Pharmacy Residency focus on pharmacy management and expanding diabetes services in our communities. The University of Pittsburgh/Rite Aid Community Pharmacy Residency provides experiences in the Rite Care™ Medication Therapy Management Services.
