What was the greatest challenge you faced during your weight loss journey?
The biggest challenge is to stay committed and to avoid temptation and distractions. The daily emails I received every day on the Rite Weight Plan provided a lot of information and motivation. They were a great reminder to stay focused on my goal and to continue making better choices every day.
How did you feel at your heaviest weight?
I often felt stressed out and full of self-doubt. I was always confused as to why I could never lose weight.
What did you like most about the Rite Weight Plan?
I liked tracking my progress online. There's something very encouraging about seeing your weight chart changing to reflect your progress. It's a visual validation that what you're doing is working!
How has your health improved?
When I was overweight, I suffered from severe sleep apnea. I never felt rested. I sleep so much better now. When you feel rested, every aspect of your life improves. I also have much more endurance when I'm playing ping pong or tennis. I can play tennis for two hours without having to sit down to catch my breath.
What's the biggest change you've made in how you eat?
I used to eat a lot more food than I do now. I've learned that my body doesn't need the quantity of food I thought it did. In fact, I feel much better when I eat more moderately. I also eat fewer carbohydrates than I did before.
What else has changed in your life as a result of losing weight?
I feel like I've reinvented myself! I've probably added ten years to my life. I haven't felt this good in years. In addition to feeling better physically, I feel so much better mentally, too. There's a level of satisfaction that comes from setting a goal and achieving it.
Was there a particular event or incident that inspired you to lose weight?
I was just tired of failing and being so heavy. I decided I was going to start the year off with a commitment to becoming healthier.
What's the greatest compliment you've received about your weight loss success?
I visited one of my company's branch offices and a lot of my co-workers didn't recognize me until I started speaking. I hadn't seen some of them in a year, and the look on their faces when they realized it was me was great. They recognized my voice, but not my body!
What does your family think about your weight loss?
My kids, who are 10 and 7, are amazed at how much weight their Dad has lost. That makes me very proud. I'm leading by example and teaching them that they can achieve anything they set their minds to. I feel like I'm being a healthy role model for them, and helping them learn how to eat better makes me feel good. We buy less junk food and prepare healthier meals.
How is your life different today as a result of losing weight on the Rite Weight Plan?
When I look in the mirror, I see a different man. I've bought a new wardrobe because none of my old clothes fit. I've lost 10 inches in my waist—and I'm still losing weight! I nearly weigh what I weighed back in college. My self-esteem is so much better now—not only because I look better, but because I've come to realize how much control and influence I have over my body and my health. This experience has taught me to believe in my ability to accomplish big things!
What would you say to someone who's thinking about starting the Rite Weight Plan?
No one else can solve your problems, and even the best program won't work unless you fully commit to it. The Rite Weight Plan is an excellent road map, but the choice to follow the path is yours.
