Was there a particular event or incident that inspired you to lose weight?

I attended my son-in-law's graduation at Ohio State University, and it seemed like everyone there but me was thin! I felt like a fat old lady. I remember wondering to myself, "How did I ever get this way?" I guess all the cakes and pies and cookies I'd loved baking over the years caught up with me.

What was your first impression of the Rite Weight Plan?

I love that it's easy to use—and that it's free! We have a daughter in college, so we pay attention to how we spend our money. When I received an email from Rite Aid about the Rite Weight Plan, I decided I'd give it a try. It was convenient and I liked that I could do it from home.

Why do you think you were so successful on the program?

I was ready. My blood pressure was 150/94, and I was scared. I knew if I went to my doctor, he would put me on blood pressure medication. I didn't want that. I had been heavy for years, and I was afraid that one day I'd just keel over. It was time to get myself under control and take back my life, and the Rite Weight Plan provided me with the information and guidance I needed to make it happen.

How would you describe yourself at your heaviest weight?

I felt big, hopeless and out of control. I had no energy and felt very unhealthy.

How would you describe yourself now?

I feel wonderful! I'm thankful and back in control!

What did you like most about the Rite Weight Plan?

The results! I'm within nine pounds of what I weighed in high school! I liked the immediate gratification of seeing improvements in my blood pressure after losing just 10 pounds. I loved that the program just seemed to anticipate what I needed right when I needed it. I also liked the consistency of receiving my daily program email every morning. It was so encouraging, and I would read those emails first! I looked forward to them so much because they really kept me so focused. Those little doses of motivation helped me start each morning off on a positive note. Logging on every morning to update my weight was also important, because it kept me honest. The structure and support was very helpful.

You're not the only member of your family to benefit from the Rite Weight Plan. How is your husband doing?

My husband lost 31 pounds just by making some of the basic lifestyle changes I made. He never officially joined the Rite Weight Plan, but every day I would share with him what I was learning on the program. We really supported each other through the process.

What has changed in your life as a result of losing weight?

When you lose 48 pounds, a lot changes! I feel like this is the person I was born to be—and it's been 25 years since I felt that way! I feel better and I look better, but the biggest change I've noticed is in my clothes. I have one dress that I had to take in six inches! I had a pair of jeans that I kept for years, hoping that one day I might be able to wear them again. But now, I can't wear them because they're three sizes too big! I also saved an old favorite dress from 1981 that I really liked but haven't been able to wear for 27 years. I wore it to church last Sunday!

How does it feel to be at your goal weight?

I'd actually love to lose another ten pounds. And with the knowledge I've gained and the new habits I've developed while doing the Rite Weight Plan, I know I can do it!
