Drug and Product Recall Information

SolodynŽ(Minocycline Hcl, Usp) Tablets

Medicis was informed of a foreign product found in a bottle labeled as Solodyn ER Tablets (Minocycline HCL 90mg, Lot B080037, 30-count bottle. The foreign product was noticed by a diligent pharmacist upon opening a previously unopened bottle of product; the bottle was found to contain 15 tablets of Azasan 75mg (Azathioprine). Solodyn ER Tablets (Minocycline HCL ) 90mg is a yellow capsule shaped tablet with "DYN-090" debossed on one side, Azasan is a yellow triangular tablet with "75mg" debossed on one side with a score line down the center.

As a result, Medicis is recalling Solodyn ER Tablets (Minocycline HCL) 90mg, Lot B080037, 30-count bottle and lot B080038, as it was packaged directly after B080037. The two lots have been in distribution since April 15, 2008.

In order to confirm that your prescription is not affected by this recall, please check your prescription. Solodyn (minocycline HC1, USP) 90mg tablets can be correctly identified by looking for the number DYN-090 which is embossed (stamped) on each tablet. If your tablets contain the identification number DYN-090 the product is correct and no further action is required.

If you find that your Solodyn 90mg tablets do not contain the identification number of DYN-090:

  • 1. Discontinue use of this medication
  • 2. Contact your Rite Aid pharmacist or physician immediately.
  • 3. Return your prescription to your Rite Aid Pharmacy to obtain a replacement
