Rite Aid Updates List Of Products Included In February 6 Voluntary Peanut Product Recall

CAMP HILL, PA (February 18, 2009) - Six products identified by the manufacturer as containing peanuts from Peanut Corporation of America, which is the focus of a U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) investigation into potential salmonella contamination, were pulled from Rite Aid shelves in the company's voluntary recall announced February 6, 2009. Rite Aid is not aware of any reported cases of illness related to these products and removed the items from store shelves as a precautionary measure.

While the company listed two of the items in its February 6 press release announcing the voluntary recall, four nearly identical items by the same manufacturer but with different UPC codes were also pulled from Rite Aid store shelves by February 6, 2009. Those items include:

  • - Rite Aid Chocolate Peanuts (15 oz.), UPC 41008009472
  • - Rite Aid Chocolate Peanuts (15 oz. plus 10% extra product), UPC 1182289472
  • - Rite Aid Chocolate Peanuts (14 oz.), UPC 1182281008
  • - Rite Aid Bridge Mix (14 oz.), UPC 1182289959

As Rite Aid previously announced, the following items also were voluntarily recalled and removed from store shelves:

  • - Rite Aid Chocolate Peanuts (15 oz.), UPC 1182235538
  • - Rite Aid Bridge Mix (15 oz.), UPC 1182237539

Any customer who purchased these recalled products should immediately discontinue use and return the items or a receipt to a Rite Aid Pharmacy for a refund. For additional information, please contact Rite Aid at 1-800-RITEAID.
