Coronavirus is a respiratory illness that can spread from person to person. The virus that causes COVID-19 is a novel coronavirus that was first identified during an investigation into an outbreak in Wuhan, China.

What are the symptoms of COVID-19?

Patients have experienced mild to severe respiratory illness with symptoms that may include the following:

Simple Ways to Protect Yourself from Coronavirus

One of the most important ways to avoid coronavirus is to wash your hands

  • Wet your hands with clean water and soap.

  • Make sure to scrub the backs of your hands, between your fingers and under your nails.

  • Scrub for at least 20 seconds. Need a timer? Hum the “Happy Birthday” song from beginning to end twice.

  • Rinse your hands with clean water.

  • Dry your hands with a clean towel or air dry them.
