With Back-to-School Season Near, Rite Aid Offers More College & School Gear in More Stores

One-Stop Shopping's a Snap with Wider Selection of Electronics, Living Essentials, School Supplies & Snacks

CAMP HILL, Pa. (July 25, 2013) - With 4,600 locations nationwide stocked with everything a scholar could need, Rite Aid (NYSE: RAD) is ready for what the National Retail Federation (NRF) calls the second-busiest shopping season of the year after only Christmas. The season is increasingly focused on back-to-college preparations, which have enjoyed consistently higher spending than primary back-to-school categories since 2008, NRF research shows.

New this year, Rite Aid has added hundreds of new college living essentials including new computer accessories, Smart TV Adapters, wireless Internet routers, sheet and blanket sets, shower curtains and door mirrors. The NRF noted that the category most likely to see an increase in spending this year is dorm and apartment furnishings as well as food items.

"As back-to-school seasons have evolved over the years, Rite Aid has been ahead of the pack in bringing the most sought-after daily living and studying essentials to the most convenient locations nationwide," said Tony Montini, executive vice president of merchandising for Rite Aid. "At the same time, we remain committed to delivering great value on back-to-school basics for all ages, whether the student is in grade school, grad school or somewhere in between."

Rite Aid has tech supplies covered with great deals on TI-84 graphing calculators, 19" LED TVs and Craig 10" Netbooks, which make it easy to take notes in class and then sync them to a home computer. Popular digital accessories include the optical mouse, speakers, flash drives, and Smart TV Adapters, which turns HD TVs into basic Internet-ready computers.

All the decor to deck out any college dorm
Once the devices are set up, college students will need somewhere to store and use them. Rite Aid has this covered too with new slim TV/laptop trays. Organizing for tight spaces is easy too with three-tier cabinets, stackable storage bins, food storage and an expanded line of domestic supplies including new four-piece bathroom sets. To give any dorm a personal touch, Rite Aid is advertising photo deals throughout the season for high-quantity purchases of digital prints.

Back-to-school basics for all ages
To encourage customers to check out Rite Aid's large back-to-school section, Rite Aid is offering deals on the basics all season including backpacks, totebags, pens, pencils, highlighters, composition books, and arts and craft supplies. New this year, Rite Aid carries Swiss Army backpacks for him or for her, Disney lunch bags and totes, and kids water bottles. And Rite Aid's private brand Home again offers an affordable, high-quality alternative to many commonly purchased brands.

Healthy snacks to keep students on track
Rite Aid stores also have a wide variety of freezer and off-the-shelf meals from trusted brands including Kraft, Rice-A-Roni, Hormel, Campbell's and many more. Those college-bound can stock up on plenty of healthy snacks such as pita chips, trail mix and mixed nuts. To help fuel late-night study sessions, Rite Aid has great deals on energy drinks, tea and coffee as well as appliances from brands including Mr. Coffee, Proctor Silex and Sunbeam.
