Shop Using Membership Rewards® Points at Rite Aid

    About the Program

    What is this program about?

American Express has partnered with Rite Aid to allow Card Members enrolled in the US Membership Rewards® program to use points for purchases at Rite Aid store locations. Eligible US Consumer, OPEN and Corporate Card Members will be prompted to use points for their purchases after they swipe, tap or insert a Membership Rewards-enrolled Card.

    Who is eligible to participate?

To participate, you must have a valid US American Express® Consumer Card, Business Card from American Express OPEN or Corporate Card enrolled in the US Membership Rewards program, and be authorized to use points for that Card.  Click here to view eligible Cards.

You will only see the option to use points in Rite Aid stores if you are the Basic Card Member or are authorized by the Basic Card Member to redeem points (as an authorized Additional Card Member). If you are using a Corporate Card, you will only see the option to use points if you are authorized to use points for that Card. Your account must also be in good standing, not in default at time of redemption and have enough points to cover the full amount.

I have more than one American Express Card. Are they all eligible?

Only Cards enrolled in the Membership Rewards program are eligible. If you have multiple Cards that meet the eligibility criteria, you can participate using all of those Cards. For details about your specific Cards, please contact Membership Rewards program Customer Care at 1-800-297-3276 or click here to view eligible Cards.

I’m an Additional Card Member. How do I know if I’m authorized to use points? If I’m not authorized, how do I become authorized?

Additional Card Members can earn Membership Rewards points but will not be able to redeem them unless the Basic Card Member authorizes them to do so. To find out if you are authorized to redeem points, please check with your Basic Card Member.

If you just became an authorized Additional Card Member or just enabled the Membership Rewards program on your Card, it may take a few days for the terminal to display the option to redeem points for in-store purchases.

    Using Points for Purchases

How do I use points for my in-store purchases at Rite Aid?

After you swipe, tap or insert your eligible American Express Card at the register to pay for a purchase, if you have enough points to cover your total, you will be presented with two options: “Use Points” or “No Thanks” (the screen will show the exact number of points you must use for the entire purchase). Simply press “Use Points” and the cost of your purchase will be deducted from your Membership Rewards points balance.

I have an eligible Card but was not given the option to use points for my purchase.

You will only be given the option to use Membership Rewards points for your purchase at Rite Aid if:

You are using an eligible American Express Card with an account in good standing. (Please keep in mind that the only Corporate Cards that are eligible to participate are Cards that are enrolled in the Membership Rewards program and authorized to use points).

You have enough points to cover the full amount of your purchase.

You are the Basic Card Member or authorized by the Basic Card Member to redeem points.

Your purchase is made in store.

How do I know if I successfully used points for my purchase?

After you choose to use points for your purchase, a confirmation message with the number of points you used toward your purchase will display on your paper receipt. If you have an email address on file with American Express, following the first time you use points for an in-store purchase at Rite Aid, you will also receive a confirmation email with the number of points that you redeemed when you used points for your purchase.

Please keep in mind that your points redemption will be reflected on your billing statement and Membership Rewards statement. Your billing statement will show a charge in dollars and an offsetting credit in the same amount as the charge. Your Membership Rewards statement will show the deduction of points. You can review your points activity by logging into your online rewards summary page at membershiprewards.com and viewing the “Activity Detail” tab.

Please allow 2-4 business days for your billing statement credit and Membership Rewards points deduction.

If there is a processing error with your choice to use points, your eligible Card will be charged and the corresponding credit will not be issued to the enrolled Card account. In this event, if you would like to use points for your purchase, please contact Membership Rewards program Customer Care at 1-800-297-3276.

How do I know how many points are available before I use points for my purchase?

If you are eligible to use points, you will be prompted when you swipe, tap or insert your Card and the exact amount of points required to cover the cost of your purchase will be presented. The terminal will also display your total Membership Rewards points balance.

You can also check your Membership Rewards points balance at any time by logging in to your online rewards summary page at membershiprewards.com and clicking on the “Activity Detail” tab.

Where can I find all of my points redemptions?

You can view your Membership Rewards points redemption information by logging in to your online rewards summary page at membershiprewards.com and clicking on the “Activity Detail” tab.

I used points for my purchase at Rite Aid, but a charge is showing up on my online Card statement.

When you use points for an in-store purchase at Rite Aid, the transaction will appear on your Card statement as a charge. The charge will be offset later with a credit and the points deduction will appear on your Membership Rewards online rewards summary page at membershiprewards.com. Please allow up to 10 days for corresponding credits to be reflected on your Card account. If a credit is processed after your Card Account statement’s closing date, it will appear in your next statement.

If you do not see a credit on your Card account statement or record of the redemption on your Membership Rewards statement, please contact Membership Rewards program Customer Care at 1-800-297-3276.

I used points for my purchase at Rite Aid, but they’re not appearing on my Membership Rewards statement.

Your transaction should appear on your online rewards summary page shortly after you make your purchase. If it has been more than 4 business days since you made your purchase, please contact Membership Rewards program Customer Care at 1-800-297-3276.

My statement says I used points for my purchase at Rite Aid but I did not, or I’m not sure if the points displayed on my statement are correct. What should I do?

If you did not use points for your purchase at Rite Aid or you are not sure if the points displayed on your statement are correct, please contact Membership Rewards program Customer Care at 1-800-297-3276.

What if I return a purchase or part of a purchase after using points?

If you return a purchase and used points toward it, Rite Aid will refund the corresponding dollar amount of the purchase to the American Express Card you used for such purchase. Please allow 2- 4 business days for the refund to post to your billing statement.

In order to have the Membership Rewards points returned to your account, please contact Membership Rewards program Customer Care at 1-800-297-3276.

    Program Opt-Out

Will Rite Aid be able to see and/or store my information?

Rite Aid will see and store this information solely for the purpose of executing this Membership Rewards program. You can opt out of the program by calling Membership Rewards program Customer Care at 1-800-297-3276.  If you opt out of this program, this information will no longer be shared.

I no longer want the option to use points at Rite Aid. How can I do that?

If you do not want to see the option to use points for a purchase in-store at Rite Aid, you can opt out of the program by contacting Membership Rewards program Customer Care at 1-800-297-3276.

I previously opted out from using points for purchases at Rite Aid, but would like to opt back in again. How can I do that?

If you have opted out of using points and want to opt back in, please contact Membership Rewards program Customer Care at 1-800-297-3276.
