Rated 1 out of 5 by from Look at ALL the Ingredients Please read past "chicken". The first three ingredients should be animal based proteins. Every ingredient between "chicken" and "minerals" is a filler. Pet food ingredients are listed in order of weight BEFORE cooking. Chicken is 75% water before cooking. That means this kibble as VERY little quality meat based proteins. Whole grain corn is the third ingredient. The number one major reason dogs are itchy or have digestive problems is generally grains. If you cut out grains, you will likely have a healthier dog. My dog didn't do well on this food for all these reasons. Switched to something better.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Not impressed Really was hoping they were making some improvements on this food based on their commercials, however I find this is not true. Ingredients 1 & 3 are ground corn and corn gluten meal both are very hard to digest, and make up the majority of the food. Also they add several artificial colors, sugar, salt, and by- products. All in all I find this food very hard for my dogs to digest, their coats are more dull, they've been pooping like 6 times a day, and I can still see little color pieces of kibble in it. Bottom line I'm changing my dogs to a better food that they will digest, and not just poop all of it out.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Thanks Beneful Our mom always buys us Beneful. The last time she bought dog food, Beneful was not in stock, so she bought another brand. We ate the other brand, just because we didn't want to hurt Mom's feelings. She could tell we didn't really care for the replacement, so she bought us more Beneful as soon as the store re-stocked. When we realized that our bowls were filled, not with the dried-up toilet paper we had been eating, but rather with the delightful flavor of Beneful, our eyes lit up and we devoured it! Thanks, Beneful, for saving us from a fate of eating ground-up twigs and turkey lips!--Dan and Taco

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Poor Ingredients, Bad Reaction So, initially I really liked this product. My nine year old Chocolate Lab loved it, but I did notice she had a bad reaction to it. She got a hot spot within 24 hours and was itching horribly, her usual reaction to generic dog food ingredients. I really liked the advertising that its made in the US, but reading the ingredients just disappointed me. Same old horrible ingredients that over time will harm my dog and make her sick. I've spent years keeping her on special food so that she stays healthy. So overall, this dog food is nothing special, and if your dog is sensitive, I do not recommend. Rated 2 out of 5 by from It's ok for grocery store type dog food Beneful is ok but I prefer to feed my dogs higher quality food. They have extremely sensitive stomachs, so my dogs have a lot of trouble with certain foods. They do much better with grain free, gluten free foods. I would love to find a lower cost dog food, especially since my dogs are nearly 250 lbs combined, (which adds up to a whole lot of food consumed) but for now, I am having to stick with the gluten free, grain free brand that doesn't upset their stomachs. I will say that my dogs seemed to enjoy the smell & taste of Beneful. Unfortunately, their tummy trouble after eating it was not fun. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Doggy approved! A big thank you to PinchMe and Beneful for this sample! I was very impressed with this dog food. This dog food is doggy approved! Our dog ate this up, no problem. He has a sensitive stomach, other dog foods have made his tummy upset in the past, with issues of making him throw up in the past, or get gassy. But, he had no such issues with the Beneful food at all. I was very impressed with this dog food, it seems to be a good, quality food. I would recommend this to dog owners. The Beneful dog food line makes many different varieties of dog food, so there should be one that is right for your dog. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Paw-Licking Good! I have a German Shepard named Shady and I waited until she finished her dry mix before giving her Purina Beneful Healthy Weight Adult Dry Dog Food. As soon as she sniffed it, it seemed like she totally inhaled it - she ate it so fast! I kind of became a bit misty eyed because it made me feel so happy to watch her eat it knowing that she really loved it! I felt like I boosted her life expectancy! I called my cousin up who has a Saint Bernard, Oatus, and told her that I think she'd really LOVE this dog food! I'm so excited to go shopping now - knowing that she likes the taste and texture! Rated 2 out of 5 by from Not what I expected I received Purina Beneful Healthy Weight dry dog food and I was very excited for my dog to try it. Unfortunately, he sniffed it and after eating a couple of bites, walked away. Reading the ingredients, I learn that indeed the first ingredient is chicken, but the second is chicken-by-product then corn, wheat, rice, corn gluten, and by the time I reached the egg and chicken flavor part, I stopped reading. I was disappointed in being mislead this product was good for my dog, who is part of our family. We love our dog and I just cannot see him eating Purina Beneful Healthy Weight at all.
