Rated 1 out of 5 by from New Formula is Terrible I have used Oral Balance, Biotene Toothpase, and Mouthwash for 16+ years since Dry Mouth diagnoses. These products were a godsend! Now the formula has changed and I am at a loss as to what to do. They took out the enzyme system, aloe vera. The gel is basically 4 ingredients now. Very thin and the sugar alcohols give me cramping and diarrhea. The green label mouthwash is still good. They also removed the enzyme formula from the blue label mouthwash and the toothpaste. The taste of the toothpaste is toooooo strong now and burns my mouth and tonque. The gel is sickeningly sweet. Biotene, please fix your products. Seems to me like they decided to go the least expensive route for them. I am so discouraged.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from New Oral Balance Gel is terrible I began using Oral Balance Gel in June 2001 and it made a huge difference to me; before that, I'd wake in the night with my tongue stuck to the roof of my mouth. I began taking Plaquenil when my rheumy Dx'd me with Sjogrens, but since it took almost 5 months for this slow-acting drug to alleviate my symptoms, Oral Balance was a godsend! But not the "new, improved" Oral Balance. It's terrible: thin and watery; doesn't last very long at all. What a shame to market this new formulation as "new, improved" when it's anything but.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Can't Rate Higher if I Can't Use It! I was excited to finally try biotene. Unfortunately, I'm unable to evaluate its effectiveness since the shockingly-sweet taste has prevented me from using the tube more than a handful of times in the several months since I purchased it. I frequently see it in the drawer in which I keep my dental products and consider using it, but the anticipation of its taste stops me cold. I'd love to try a neutral or non-sweetened formula in the future.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Old Formula Gel was Great, new formula is terrible Have used Biotene Gel for a couple of years and it WAS terrific. The formula has recently changed and it no longer works... the gel is thinner and doesn't last. I no longer receive any relief from this product. PLEASE BRING BACK THE OLD FORMULA!

Rated 3 out of 5 by from product change I used Biotene toothpaste exclusively for many years. Then they changed the product by adding sodium saccharin, which leaves a terrible aftertaste. The new product says "New improved PH balance" in red on it, and I no longer buy it. actually, all toothpaste has saccharin in it! I found some old stock and bought them out and it was good again, but gone again.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from No Rest Without Biotene Gel After years of suffering night-time dry mouth, requiring me to awake 4-10 times a night for a sip of water, this product allows me restful nights with only 1-3 awakenings a night. My only wish is that Biotene could develop a product that lasts the whole night through.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from How do you NOT contaminate tip of tube when applying? I couldn't come up with sanitary way to apply gel from tube to tongue without contaminating tip of tube, Instructions say, "Place a half inch directly on tongue and spread..." Putting from tube to tongue directly would transfer germs to tube tip the very first time you use it. If you wash your hands really, really well, and then apply, that might work, but it is not always convenient to do so. I wish I had purchased spray instead of tube of gel.
