Reviews
Biotene Toothpaste, Fluoride, Dry Mouth, Fresh Mint Original, 4.3 oz (121.9 g) is rated 3.1 out of 5 by 133.
Rated 1 out of 5 by from New formula is awful I started using Biotene in 1995 when medication gave me dry mouth. I no longer need the medication, but I kept using Biotene because of its mild taste and low foaming formula. As many other users have said, the formula has changed and the new formula does not have the two characteristics that are important to me. Biotene was always worth the extra price because it was much better than other toothpastes. I am dismayed to think that I will need to try to find another toothpaste. Please bring the old formula back. I was interested to see that many of the 5 star rating reviews also show disappointment with the change.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from New formula works better, tastes horrible As a sufferer of dry mouth this toothpaste is a amazing, as it doesn't sting or burn my tongue when I brush my teeth. I actually find the new formula works better for me, more soothing on the mouth and doesn't set off sensitivity on my teeth as much. However I have to say it tastes worse than the old formula. I wish this product would also help with tooth sensitivity as many people with dry mouth suffer from it. I have to resort to using two toothpastes at the same time at the moment and it's quite inconvenient when it comes to travelling. Overall, great product, but could be imporved.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from New pH Balance Formula I've used Biotene toothpaste for 6 1/2 years due to burning mouth syndrome.  Personally I hate the new formula.  The consistency is such that it doesn't dissolve easily with either water or saliva.  As soon as I use up the 3 tubes I have on hand, I will never buy more.  It sticks to every surface of my mouth and tongue as well as the sink.  In my opinion, the company took something that worked reasonably well and broke it.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from What's the point of buying biotene to change it? I hate the new biotene! I want the old one back! What is the point now? There is no difference between this and every other toothpaste on the market: high foam, no dry mouth ingredients, yukky taste. Please return to making biotene the way it was under the original producers -- I used biotene for over 10 years because it was a good toothpaste. The worst thing about the new one is the foam -- I LOVED low-foam biotene because I hate all that stuff in my mouth. If I want just another toothpaste, I might as well buy Crest or Colgate.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Great taste but not a keeper Lets begin with what I liked about Biotene Toothpaste Fresh Mint. The minty taste! It was so refreshing. As I was brushing, it foamed nicely and I felt like it cleaned my teeth well. However, as soon as I was finished brushing my teeth, I was incredibly thirsty! I had to drink water (and plenty if it) to put the thirsty sensation at ease. And we all know that is never a good thing before going to bed! It happened each and every time I used Biotene toothpaste so I won't be continuing use. Others in my household who have used it have not had the thirsty sensation but they were not impressed either. Unfortunately, we won't be switching our toothpaste preference. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent relief of dry mouth from SLS sensitivity This product is excellent for dry mouth as a result of SLS sensitivty. Unike many other 'SLS-free' toothpastes, Biotene doesn't acually contain any of SLS's chemical equivalents; nor sodium- meaning there is nothing that can dry your mouth. Of course, this means it doesn't really foam at all in your mouth; it feels a bit like brushing with minty saliva. What's also absent from the ingredient list is glycerin, which might explain why others didn't get the 'tongue gliding over teeth' feel. As for my teeth, I'm years beyond being able to fix them with toothpaste alone, but given the mild Biotene formula, you might want to maintain a healthy diet and make sure you brush properly to ensure a clean mouth. But in the end, waking up in the morning with a moist chomper and no morning breath is well worth it. I'd definitely recommend it over any other regular, and 'natural' toothpastes.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from New formula I have Sjogren's Syndrome and found the original Biotene toothpaste to be a very good product. The new formula makes it unusable for me. It is too foamy, is harsh, does not adequately clean my teeth, and, due to the saccharin, leaves an unpleasant aftertaste. I will no longer use nor recommend this product.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Product change has ruined the product This product used to be the only toothpaste I could use because it didn't burn my dry mouth. Now I don't know what I'll use since the formula has been changed and it burns just like any other toothpaste now. Needless to say I won't be buying this product any more unless the formula is changed back to exactly the way it was originally.
