Rated 1 out of 5 by from Hate this pitcher I have been a Brita user for more than 20 years and this pitcher design does not work. The filter keeps floating up and dislodging so that the unfiltered water in the top leaks into the filtered reservoir. I have tried putting less water in to filter, I have tried being patient in letting the water filter through but over 70% of the time when I open the top of the pitcher the filter is not seated in the pitcher like it should be and if I don't check it every time, the unfiltered water just runs through into the bottom of the pitcher

Rated 4 out of 5 by from My Brita observation In my chemistry class, we were filtering our tap water. We tested our water for each parameter (chlorine, water hardness, lead, pH, copper, nitrates) and found chlorine and water hardness in our water. Then we did research on what filter we should use to remove chlorine and water hardness and found that the Brita filter would be best. The Brita filter cleaned water hardness and chlorine. Our water hardness went from 200 ppm to 120 ppm and chlorine from 1 ppm to 0 ppm. The other parameters were not present so they could not be decreased. I would recommend the Brita filter to those whose water has chlorine and/or water hardness.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excelent Filter Birta is a great filter if you want to make your water safer. I tested my water for the following parameters iron, pH, bacteria, lead, nitrates, copper, chlorine and water hardness before using Brita and after using Brita. Then from using the Brita the following parameter went down: nitrates 3 ppm- 2 ppm, water hardness 250 ppm- 50 ppm, pH 7-6.5, chlorine 1ppm-0 ppm and lead went from possibly present to none. The filter results were better than I expected. By using Brita it lowered every parameter weather it was a health risk or just making our water unpleasant. If you want clean and safe water I recommend you use Brita.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from I take this everywhere it's great to show up outdoors, in the van...with this...I can have filtered water any place I go! and people ask me questions...why are you carrying that? what is it? so I get a chance, as an environmentalist, to explain the damage plastic bottles do to the environment....that having your own cup and filter keeps hard-to-degrade bottles out of the trash, trash trucks, and landfills. and...less water drained out of my springs and aquifers surrounding me, which lowers the water level, causing algae blooms and me not being able to swim or kayak on our spring-fed rivers... a win win win

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Love this! We just switched to the Brita Pitcher about a month ago. I have a bad back and am a single parent and lugging all that bottled water was killing me! I also hated all the water bottles all over the house. This pitcher has saved me so much money in such a short time and the water tastes great! I have reusable water bottles that I fill up with this water and the kids never ask for juice! They just grab a water bottle and go and no half drunken water bottles cluttering the house anymore! As much as we drink water I might have to upgrade to a bigger pitcher but after trying it, its the only way to go! [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Too small for my needs, probably great for others. This was shown to me as the replacement or new version of my old Brita pitcher (I think it was called a FridgeMate or something like that; it was meant to be slim enough to fit in the fridge door and I bought it c. 1998), but this one is WAY smaller. Which is actually really hard to tell just by looking and I no longer remember (nor did I measure) the capacity of my old one. I tend to fill a bunch of water bottles with filtered water and keep those in my fridge, car, on my desk, etc. It takes 3.5 fills of this pitcher to fill 6 of my water bottles. With the slowness of this type of water filter, that takes forever. Too small for me. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Disappointed, to put it mildly. I bought this picture because I had moved and left my old one behind. When I saw this compact one at the supermarket I thought it would make a nice replacement. since I no longer needed a big one. When I first bought it I had the old type filter and it worked ok. It was time to change the filter with the new and improved filter that says it can be used in any Brita. NOT! The filter falls out when you pour the water. The lid is impossible to get off without a struggle and the filter doesn't fit in the hole properly so the water leaks around the seal and tastes almost as bad as the water out of the tap. I have always had a Brita.. This is the first one that I didn't like. Not to mention having a supply of new filters that don't fit..

Rated 1 out of 5 by from not this filter design I have used this thin/slim Brita pitcher for about ten years. It fits well on the counter, filters quickly, and is just a good size for our kitchen. However, after one ended up on the floor and cracked, and I got a replacement at our local box store, I realized that Brita has redesigned the filter so that it has a little "knob" or "handle" that sticks up into the pitcher. That's fine, the old design was sometimes hard to get loose, but this one falls out if you're pouring the last of the water out of the pitcher, knocks the lid off, and gets water and all of the parts all over. This is NOT a good design, and I would prefer the old one that actually stuck in the filter holder. For others who might be reading this, I bought my pitcher in Dec 2014. Bad design revision, folks.
