Tested on sensitive skin. Every day, dermatologists observe the severe skin damages caused by UVA and UVB ray exposure. UVB rays mainly cause burning. They are stopped by the epidermis. They cause tanning and are mainly responsible for sunburn. SPF or Sun Protection Factor is the degree of protection a sunscreen offers against UVB rays. UVA rays mainly cause aging or sun allergies. They penetrate deeper into the skin than UVB rays and can reach into the dermis. UVA rays directly contribute to skin aging (wrinkles, sagging, dark spots) and are the No. 1 cause of sun intolerances (allergies). Both UVA and UVB rays have been proven to cause damage to skin cells, including DNA, and to weaken the immune system. These damages potentially lead to the development of skin cancer. A pioneer in UV protection research for over 15 years, La Roche-Posay, with Anthelios, is trusted by dermatologists worldwide for its advanced formulations in UVA protection. Anthelios 50 Mineral Sunscreen with Cell-Ox Shield: For the 1st time, a unique patent pending combination of mineral sun filter with powerful anti-oxidants in a fluid texture to protect your skin down to the cellular level (upper layers of skin). Rated 5 out of 5 by from Happy with it - everyday use I did a lot of research before purchasing a face sunscreen for everyday use and chose this one even after reading some negative reviews. I have experienced a perfect consistency with this sunscreen and wonder if some people who find it gritty just aren't shaking it before using. Also, this product gives me no white cast, but I will add that I have pale skin. As someone who uses a retinoid gel, this mineral sunscreen gives me the protection I need. I will add that when I bought this sunscreen at Target, my first box had the other, non-mineral version in it with a tester sticker but I had no issues exchanging it.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Unpleasant I was surprised when I saw this fluid come out of the tube white, the body version is a tan color. And not pleasantly surprised. I thought this would have a silky texture to it, but it feels like rubbing sand on your face. After I finished applying it (all nicely rubbed in, it does absorb well) I looked like a corpse. I have a light, but not pale complexion and looking in the mirror now it looks like all the blood is drained from my face. My skin feels smooth and I am confident that it will be protected from the sun but I look awful.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great texture I've been using the tinted version for awhile, and decided to give this non-tinted version a try. It has the same wonderful silky texture, but I have to admit that I'm not as taken with this version as the tinted. It does give the skin a slight, white sheen. Not enough to make me want to return it, but I'd stick to the tinted version if I'm working. I like how light the product is. It goes on the skin easily and absorbs fast. I also like that this contains zinc. I feel that there is more protection with zinc included. As for the reviews that claims that the texture is gritty or rough, I noticed that their products are bought at drug stores. Perhaps those products have expired? I've never had any issue with texture nor application, and I always buy from the website. Just a thought.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Awesome At first I was using too much, getting the whitening effect but once I figured out the correct amount I LOVE IT ..... I am out in the sun a lot and am fair ( I am a natural redhead) so I need all the protection as I don't want any freckles or discoloration on face, neck or hands ( yes I use it on my hands) so far I have had excellent results! I am wanting to try the 60SPF but overall very satisfied with the 45SPF

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Disappointed Having used La Roche-Posay sunscreens for many years I was excited about trying this new one. Unfortunately, the 'non-whitening' claim is incorrect. After using it for the first time my husband actually asked me what was wrong with my face as it had a pale white look to it. I tried it again the next day using the product even more sparingly that the first time with the same white results. I would buy this again.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Grainy texture I have purchased several bottles of this sunscreen. The texture is like an exfoliant, lumpy and unpleasant. I have wasted my money because I can’t use it.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from great for sensitive skin con: whitening I am asian, with very sensitive skin, prone to breakouts and I find it very hard to find a suitable sunscreen, I have tried a lot of products and the only ones I feel comfortable with so far is Louis Widmer- I could not find them in USA and Anthelios, Anthelios in my opinion is better for oily skin and does not have the heavy sunscreen feel . CONS: whitening effect is slight but present, the initial chemical smell.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Changed formula? Did La Roche Posay change the formula for this mineral sunscreen? This is my 3rd bottle of mineral sunscreen from this brand. However, it felt like rubbing sand on your face. I tried shaking the bottle really hard for several times but the sunscreen was very sandy. Not happy at all and ended up returning this. Definitely not recommended.
