Rated 3 out of 5 by from I love it but.... I've been using this product for quite sometime now and I've never had a problem with coverage in the past as I just focus on the top and sides of my head (just the roots) and always had enough to finish. However, I feel like maybe there is less product in the bottle now. It's only half full even after adding the color solution. I couldn't believe after using it so many times that I didn't have enough to do the right side of my head once the top and left were done. Then a few months later, I spread it out and just had enough to do the top and the area around my face. Am I crazy or is there less ounces in the bottle? Love the product but there needs to be more in it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I just used this for the first time. I was nervous because of mixed reviews, but went with my gut and gave it a try. GREAT RESULTS! My natural color is dark brown with a little gray. I have it dyed to overall light-medium brown with blonde highlights. I used the medium brown root rescue only on my part, my hairline and a row or 2 beyond the part. Let it in for 15 minutes because of my resistant gray. I rinsed with cold water, than shampooed twice as my fear was the dye would color my highlights. I ended up with almost no loss of highlights, beautiful matching and blending, and gray gone! Looks terrific! Thank you L'Oreal.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Hard to use I just finished using Root Rescue on my greys. It was easy enough to mix, and I think the final results will see me through to my next professional appointment. However, I will not purchase this product again because it was terribly difficult to keep hold of the applicator once the gloves had product on them. It slipped out of my hands once and it shot out of my hand another time when I was trying to apply. Fortunately there is no permanent damage, but the gloves were too tight to get off and then on again to finish the appplication once I had cleaned up the messes. I had to use two additional pairs of gloves.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Love it .................. I have been using Clairol Root Touch up for years but I decided to try L'oreal Root Rescue because my old brand was not covering the grey as well as I liked. I am absolutely THRILLED with my new find. The L'oreal Root Rescue covered my grey roots and my hair feels so soft and looks really shiny! Thank you L'oreal .....I will definately be using this product again and again!!!!

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Too dark again -- 2.0! As an earlier reviewer wrote, I also wanted to cover gray roots without salon visit. Knowing I have resistant grey hair, I left it on for almost 20 minutes. I bought Light Brown # 6 because I have dark blonde, unbleached hair and have had trouble covering greys with blonde hair colours in the past. Although box says "suitable for roots that are one shade lighter or darker than your colored hair," I now have brunette roots. Guess I will be attending Thanksgiving dinner with reverse ombre look not of my design. I did like the comb applicator but am now gobsmacked to learn this is permanent Level # 3 and I will have to shampoo daily til who knows when.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Too Dark! I bought the Root Rescue in a LIGHT BROWN #6. My gray areas are in front of my ears and at the top/front of my hair. My color DID NOT turn out Light Brown. My color turned Dark Brown, almost Black. Now my hair is completely messed up. The front is dark, dark brown, while the sides and back are my normal Light Brown. It looks ridiculous and now I have to buy an all over color to fix the two-toned mess. Why can't you be accurate in your colors? Why, if the color says "light brown" does it come out almost black? Coloring my hair again is going to do damage, and I'm not happy about it!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Covered my grey I bought this when I couldn't get into see my hair dresser before a trip. I have "chesnuts roasting over an open fire" brown hair with hard to cover grey at my crown, part and edges of my face. I use the spray touch up in medium brown (sometimes I feel it is too dark) in a pinch, but wanted something more permanent for the trip. I used 5G medium brown with golden highlights root touch up , put it on as instructed then left it for a solid 15" more like 20" . It worked great ! Not too dark, lighter than my other color, but blending, warm and highlighting (solid coverage) and it covered the grey! I would reccommend it and use it again if I needed too!

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Clumsy and Wasteful Applicator I love Loreal products in general, but sorry, this one needs some improvement. The rather rigid applicator bottle is hard to squeeze so the product doesn't flow out evenly but in spurts and spits. That made application difficult for me, plus it's impossible to get all of the product out of the bottle so some is wasted. But worse, despite leaving it on my hair for at least 15 minutes, it didn't cover my gray anywhere near as well as its competitor, Clairol Root Touch-up, which I have been using for about 2 years. (Maybe it isn't the formula at fault for this so much as it is the clumsy applicator bottle, I can't be sure. A big difference in the two brands is that Loreal says shampoo after, Clairol says no need to shampoo, simply rinse the product out. Perhaps shampooing right away removes too much product so there isn't as good coverage??) I do love the conditioning effect of Loreal Root Rescue, but then that's not my primary goal when coloring gray, so on that note, I can't recommend this product. I will go back to my tried and true, easy to mix, easy to apply, Clairol Root Touch-up, which uses an open tray and brush rather than a hard-to-squeeze stiff bottle. (Loreal might be a worthy contender if it weren't for that stiff applicator.)
