What is COVID-19?

Coronavirus is a respiratory illness that can spread from person to person. The virus that causes COVID-19 is a novel coronavirus that was first identified in 2019 during an investigation into an outbreak in Wuhan, China.

Diagnosis

  • Chills
  • Shortness of breath or difficulty breathing
  • Repeated shaking with chills
  • Fever
  • Cough
  • New loss of taste or smell
  • Sore throat
  • Muscle pain

Seek immediate medical attention if you develop emergency warning signs of COVID-19. Possible symptoms could include:

  • Trouble breathing
  • Persistent pain or pressure in the chest
  • New confusion or inability to arouse
  • Blueish lips or face

Follow the CDC’s helpful guide to protect yourself and your loved ones:
 

 

Avoid close contact with people who are sick.

 

Cover your cough or sneeze with a tissue, then throw the tissue in the trash.

 

Avoid touching your eyes, nose, and mouth.

 

Clean and disinfect frequently touched objects and surfaces.

 

Stay home when you are sick, except to get medical care.

 

Wash your hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds.

Hand Washing

  1. Wet your hands with clean water and soap.
  2. Make sure to scrub the backs of your hands, between your fingers and under your nails.
  3. Scrub for at least 20 seconds. Need a timer? Hum the “Happy Birthday” song from beginning to end twice.
  4. Rinse your hands with clean water.
  5. Dry your hands with a clean towel or air dry them.

Clean with soap and water, specialized cleaners, or disinfectant products/wipes.

Soft Surfaces

 

[Carpets, furniture and clothing] Clean with soap and water, specialized cleaners, or in a laundry machine, as directed on the care label.

Electronics

 

[Phone, tablets, remote controls and computers]

Use a disinfecting wipe or 70% alcohol wipes on hard surfaces. Take caution so liquid does not get into any opening.*
