Sleep Tips From Your Rite Aid Pharmacist

Today we're going to get some helpful tips from Diana who's a pharmacist here at Rite Aid.

    Let's go!

Diana, what should we do to fall asleep each night or get back to sleep? So you want to be consistent with your sleep routine. You want to have the same kind of schedule. Make sure your room is at a comfortable temperature. You want to remove your electronics, but if you're having problems falling asleep and staying asleep, we do have supplements that can help you with that. If you get to bed and find yourself not being able to fall asleep, you can move to another room, or even try reading or some meditation or yoga to help relax you.

What can we do daily to ensure a good night's sleep? To ensure a good night's sleep, you're going to want to get some exercise, eat a healthy diet and get into a routine that works for you.

What should we do if we can't fall asleep? So if you're laying in bed and you cannot fall asleep, you can try moving into another room, possibly reading a book or trying some relaxation techniques like meditation or yoga.

How does nutrition affect our sleep? Nutrition is important because you want to avoid eating large meals before bed; those can keep you up at night. Also, avoiding caffeine late in the afternoon can also delay your sleep pattern. Taking stimulant medications can affect your sleep pattern as well, so you want to make sure you're not taking those too late in the afternoon or evening.

What type of products can be helpful so we can get better sleep? So lavender has been shown to promote calmness and reduce anxiety and help you fall asleep. Here at Rite Aid, we carry various lavender products. We carry essential oils, and we also carry a foaming bubble bath as well. You can take the essential oil and diffuse it in your bedroom to set that tone for your room. So melatonin is a hormone that's naturally produced in your brain, and it plays a vital role in sleep. If you need supplemental melatonin, we carry various melatonin products for children and adults here at Rite Aid.

A special thank you to Diana for sharing all that she did today, and just a reminder connect with your local Rite Aid pharmacist; they're there to help you every day!
